Student Union
President
The aim of the role is to lead the Student Union, as well as to develop an interconnected and consistent approach across all societies. As President, you will also be responsible for taking the lead as part of the Student Voice and speaking on behalf of the student body.
Duties are:
- To promote and take an active role in the Learner Voice forums
- To represent the student body at presentation days, as well as performing presentation speeches at school and Sixth Form events
- To attend meetings where appropriate and as requested by the Governing Body and Senior Management Team
- To represent the Student Union at school and Sixth Form open evenings and marketing events
- To undergo training and keep records for the following Student Union handover
- To be part of the Sixth Form self-evaluation process and to attend meetings as required
- To ensure equality of opportunity is promoted and represented in all aspects of Sixth Form life.
- Supporting the Head of Sixth Form in promoting e-safety and safeguarding
Vice President
The Vice President will represent the voice of the student body as well as act as deputy when required. You will also support the President in promoting the Student Union and the student body.
Duties are:
- To actively promote all the Student Voice forums and to attend meetings on behalf of the President when required
- To support the other post holders and chair persons of societies
- To attend Sixth Form marketing events.
In addition to the role of deputy this key role includes arranging meetings, minute taking and ensuring the Student Union follows the constitution.
- To send out agendas and take minutes of all Student Union meetings (a rota can be organised)
- To communicate regularly with all members of the Student Union
- To work closely with the Treasurer as well as Student Support Services team
Accounts Manager
The aim of this role is to keep all student finances and associated paperwork in order.
Duties are:
- Controls the Student Union and Council budget
- To undergo training and to work with the School finance team to ensure all finances can be accounted for
- Approves and keeps a record of spending
- Provides updates/reports for the Student Union
- Advises members on the cost of different projects and how to manage budgets
Media and Publicity Officers (2 posts)
Duties are:
- Liaises with all members and societies to find out about and publicise work/events
- Works with representatives to find out student/staff and parent/carers’ views about effective means of communication
- Liaises with the President, JLT and staff over proposed events and dates, press releases/articles in publications
- Liaises with relevant staff and students to promote work/events, e.g. web manager
- Builds up a publicity portfolio as a record of all articles/correspondence
Student Cohesion and Well Being Officers (2 posts)
Duties are:
- To encourage and provide opportunities for students to make a positive contribution to their community
- To organise and be involved in Equality and Diversity events
- To ensure that students are encouraged to support events within their local communities and to raise awareness of the Sixth Form at such events
- To promote and encourage the student body to sustain a well maintained and respected Sixth Form environment
- To promote a healthy lifestyle, one which considers not only being active, but healthy eating, drug and alcohol awareness and the various ways to develop a healthy lifestyle
- To raise awareness of support from outside agencies in helping students
Charity/Fundraising Liaison Officers (2 posts)
The aim of this role is to generate funding for internal and external activities including certain charities. Working closely with the other representatives will also be necessary for this role.
Duties are:
- To generate funds for events/activities including chosen charities
- Co-ordinates fund raising events and theme days
- Liaises with the accounts Manager about financing money/budget
- To ensure that students are encouraged to support events within their local communities and to raise awareness of the Sixth Form at such events
- To publicise and assist with organised events for the chosen charities, which will be the focus of fundraising for the whole student body
Teaching and Learning Officers (2 posts)
These are key roles in ensuring that the quality of teaching and learning is outstanding.
Duties are:
- Sets up and coordinates a teaching and learning sub-society
- Works with members and the student body as well as staff to gain information on views related to teaching and learning
- Discusses relevant proposals with the Student Union and with the Senior Leadership Team
- Attends and feeds back to whole staff when needed on suggestions and ideas
- Reports back to the Student Union about projects and meetings
EVENTS OFFICER (2 posts)
The aim of this role is to liaise with peers and Miss Moore in order to provide the opportunity for students to attend events as a group booking outside Sixth Form (eg. theatre, film, lectures etc.).
Duties are:
- Research events available
- Survey students interest
- Propose trip and communicate with Miss Moore to organise
- Communicate with local coach companies in order to establish overall cost of event
SPORTS OFFICER (2 posts)
The aim of this role is to generate funding for internal and external activities including sports equipment and to research and help organise optional trips to sporting events.
Working closely with the other representatives will also be necessary for this role, in particular the Charity/Fundraising liaison Officers.
Duties are:
- To generate funds for equipment
- Co-ordinate fund raising events and theme days
- Liaise with the accounts Manager about financing money/budget
- To ensure that students are encouraged to support events within their local communities and to raise awareness of the Sixth Form at such events
