Our Sixth Form offers a wide range of A-Level and vocational courses designed to help you reach your goals—whether that’s university, an apprenticeship, or entering the world of work. To help you prepare, we’ve outlined our entry requirements and the application process below.

Entry to Higham Lane Sixth Form requires 5 or more GCSEs at grade 9-4 including English Language and Mathematics.


All subjects will be offering the two year linear A Level/vocational route. AS Level qualifications will not be offered.

Grade 7 in Biology (or Grade 7-7 in Combined Science) and Grade 7 in Maths are recommended
 
Business Grade 5 in English Language
Grade 5 in Maths
A GCSE/vocational qualification in this subject is not required to study this course in our Sixth Form. If you have studied Business previously, a GCSE grade 6/vocational Level 2 Merit is recommended.
Chemistry Grade 6 in Chemistry (or Grade 6‐6 in  Combined Science)
Grade 6 in Maths
Grade 7 in Chemistry (or Grade 7-7 in Combined Science) and Grade 7 in Maths are recommended
Computer Science Grade 6 in Maths A GCSE/vocational qualification in this subject is not required to study this course in our Sixth Form. If you have studied Computer Science previously, a grade 6 is recommended.
Criminology

Grade 4 in English Language A GCSE/vocational qualification in this subject is not required to study this course in our Sixth Form.
 
Economics Grade 5 in Maths
Grade 5 in English Language
A GCSE/vocational qualification in this subject is not required to study this course in our Sixth Form. Grade 6 in Maths and English Language are recommended.
English Language Grade 6 in English Language A grade 5 in both English Language and English Literature will also be accepted.
English Literature Grade 6 in English Literature A grade 5 in both English Language and English Literature will also be accepted.
Fine Art Grade 5 in Art GCSE A GCSE/vocational qualification in this subject is not required to study this course in our Sixth Form. If you have not achieved a grade 5 in Art GCSE, a portfolio of work will be requested before you are accepted.
French Grade 6 in French Grade 7 in French is recommended
Further Mathematics Grade 7 in Maths Grade 8 in Maths is recommended.
Geography Grade 5 in Geography
Grade 5 in English Language
Grade 6 in Geography is recommended.
History Grade 5 in History
Grade 5 in English Language
Grade 6 in History is recommended.
Law Grade 5 in English Language A GCSE/vocational qualification in this subject is not required to study this course in our Sixth Form.
Mathematics Grade 6 in Maths Grade 7 in Maths is recommended.
Physical Education Grade 6 in PE OR a Level 2 Merit in a vocational Sport qualification
Grade 5 in Biology (or Grade 5‐5 in Combined
Science)
You must be participating in at least one sport competitively outside of school on a regular basis.
 
Physics Grade 6 in Physics (or Grade 6‐6 in Combined

Sociology Grade 5 in English Language A GCSE/vocational qualification in this subject is not required to study this course in our Sixth Form. If you have studied Sociology previously, a Grade 6 is recommended.
