Higham Lane School

Recruitment of Staff

Our partner school, Higham Lane School, has a very positive reputation both locally and nationally and consistently attracts the highest calibre of teachers, support staff and governors.

We will be looking to recruit the most accomplished teaching and support staff to make a positive difference to the lives of the students at Higham Lane North Academy Free School whilst benefiting from excellent continuing professional development, attractive career development opportunities and imaginative approaches to staff workload and wellbeing. Posts will be advertised in national, local and specialist media as appropriate.

Our teaching and support staff will be joining a school which is passionate about teaching and learning and pastoral care, where colleagues are always developing their practice and learning from each other. Our staff will receive regular training in the most effective teaching and learning techniques and we will provide bespoke career stage training.

We are committed to reducing teacher workload by always looking to streamline our ways of working, for example in our Feedback Policy, by making greater use of whole-class feedback. We will value our staff as experts in their subject and support them to work very effectively in their subject teams to produce schemes of learning and resources. Students will use knowledge organisers for revision during homework and peer-assess themselves in our Do Now knowledge tests, enhancing their subject knowledge.

Staff wellbeing is very important to us. We will ensure a work-life balance in the way we organise our meetings and INSET days and release our calendar before the start of the academic year. We will ensure emails are used sparingly and only at agreed times. We will support staff to look after themselves, for example through our health awareness events. We will celebrate our many achievements in a range of social events.

All the staff whom we employ will be expected to demonstrate a responsibility for and a commitment to the safeguarding of students. We will offer regular, high-quality training to enable staff to do this effectively.

If you would like to work with us in any capacity at Higham Lane North Academy Free School, whether on a paid or voluntary basis, please get in touch by contacting us on info@HLNA.co.uk
